Stratton Mountain

I hit Stratton Mountain in the afternoon today. At 3,936 feet, it's the highest peak since Harper's Ferry.

It's a gradual climb to the top, and then there's a caretaker - and older lady - who greets you, and you climb to the top of a fire tower to get a good look around.

[the view to the south includes the caretaker's cabin and probably Glastenbury Mtn.]

  1. Hey Jeremy,

This is Connor, the dude living in your house (which leaked from the roof like a waterfall the other night, by the way!) Seems to me you should have mentioned a blog at some point - Katie just told me about it today, so this is my first time viewing it, haha!

Anyway, your trip seems like an amazing time, I'm loving reading about your progress. The house is fine but the leak was a bit of a scare for a day. Hope everything continues to go well, I will see you when you get back!

  2. Good to hear you're reading, Connor. I thought the whole office would've known by now. That leak has been fixed before. I guess the quality of the repairs was sub par. Sorry about that!
Hope everything else is going well,
    JH

  3. Haha, I was just messing with you about the blog and the roof is fine now. Jeff is following your blog progress on the trail as well. By the way, alpine slides are amazing! Hope your trip continues to be a great time..

  4. Hi Jeremy (aka "Jerm")...

Mom and I have been following your Blog with great interest, and envy. I check it daily from the office, as I am doing now. Jennifer, Rob and, of course, Adrienne, are also following. Our home computer was out for most of last week, due to my hole digging prowess. Mom asked me to dig several holes behind the deck for new plants. Last one had a large "root" that I pushed extra hard one on spade. When I turned dirt over, up came our satellite cable.....oops! That's what she gets for making me dig holes in a perfectly nice lawn :) Your pictures and related stories are awesome. Sounds like you are making lifelong friends, as well. I also especially like the idea of forced weight loss! Can't imagine eating 5,000 calories a day, like Strider. When we ride our bikes 35 or 45 miles, we are voracious and I cannot even imagine walking 20 miles of mountainess (or flat) terrain. I have shared his with several friends at my office, who are also amazed by your exprience. We'll see if this note goes through. Mom told me last night, she was still not sure how to get a reponse to you on here. If it works I will tell her how tonight. Us old folks are not as computer literate as you "young un's"... Good luck with rest of your trip. Seems like you will finishing up your hike, the week we are on our New York/New Jersey bike trip. We will opt for the 75 mile loop around NYC burroughs. Should be fun. 8 friends from Wilmington Bike Club are going a week early. Camping and riding on Long Island, then following Sunday is the BIG ride. Be safe - have fun. Love Bob
