Poem of the week

Savor this Robert Burns song until I update again later this week. I heard it in song form on NPR's "Thistle and Shamrock" show, and it quickened my steps on the trail.

"Lines Written On a Tumbler"

You're welcome, Willie Stewart;
You're welcome, Willie Stewart;
There's ne'er a flower that blooms in
May,
That's half sae welcome's thou art.

Come, bumpers high, express your joy,
The bowl we maun renew it;
The tappit-hen, gae bring her ben,
To welcome, Willie Stewart.

May foes be strang, and friends be
slack,
Ilk action may he rue it;
May woman on him turn her back,
That wrangs thee, Willie Stewart!

  3. Hi Mr. Jeremy E. Hauck,

    This is your cable tv (Frederick connection) news update. I watched Top Chef Las Vegas last night and you'll be interested to learn that Michael Voltaggio (aka, "Volt" in Frederick) came in first in last night's competition. So, he has been prominently featured last two weeks. I would typically not watch a show like this, since it is on same time as Ghost Hunters and (sometimes) Man vs. Wild - two of the more "intellectual" programs that I watch when not devouring a good(mystery)novel (I am reading 500 to 600 pages a week). But since there is a "Frederick connection", it caught my interest. Did I mentioned "Dog the Bounty Hunter" is also on Wednesday night! As Mom said above, is getting cold here at night. Been high of upper 70's during day and low's of 45 ish at night. On Monday evening, about 6:30 I started our first bon fire in fire pit to take the chill off while we were sitting on deck reading. Can't believe Fall is already approaching. It is also 3 mos, 26 days and 6 hours (but who is counting) remaining until I am retired ! We are off to our 8 - day NYC Bike excursion this weekend, and will be camping on tip of Long Island for first 3 nights we are there. Hope all is well with you, and that you have enough warm clothes to see you through the end of your incredible journey. Be good. Bob
